  • Baby Names... again.

I think we might completely change our middle name. We found a unique name but the meaning of the name is... insufficient. I want to put the meanings of our name choice on the birth announcement. I found a meaning for Emma that means 'Healing One'. That couldn't be more perfect. But I need our middle name to mean something. You can't just give a name a new meaning because there are reasons that names have the meanings that they do... from their origin and yada, yada, yada. Right?

Oh, I want to tell you the middle name because it's absolutely gorgeous! But I also want to keep it a secret. The mystery of a name. I know, now you can't help me... But I need help!

Maybe I could write a short quote of what both names mean to US instead of putting in the actual meanings... I already have the birth announcements designed so that would change the layout but maybe it would make it that much more unique.

    Hmmmmmmm.

oooohhhh, I am all about a name having some meaning! Do tell, where are you getting your birth announcements? Or are you designing them yourself?

I think the meaning being your own is just as important as the official meaning. Example: Gilead means Eternal joy, but that is not why we chose the name.

I wholeheartedly agree with VirginiaDawn!  The meaning you give to the name means more than anything in a baby book somewhere.  Just my opinion though!  Cambria Paige means helped from Wales, pretty much.  Which is sweet, I'm Welsh (as in I grew up there, not my great great great great great grandparents lived there or something) and I like to think she'll be a good helper when she gets bigger.  But you look at my little girl and you're like, yup, her name is right.  So, there you have it.  It fits her.  I chose it because I loved it.  The end :)  I WANTED a name that meant peace and/or healing, but I couldn't find anything that fit her better.

    ("helped" should have been "helper")

My Baby's name has a lot of meaning also, but not necassarily what the meaning in the book is. :)

Also, let me say that no matter what you name your child, there will come a point in thier life where they will wonder "why in the world did you name me this?"! And then you will say because I thought whatever you thought! Reegan hates her name and wishes everyday that we would have named her melissa! UGH!!!!! But she is our little queen and some day she will grow to appreciate her unusual name.I like uniqueness, and if she likes melissa so much, she can name one of her daughters that! =)

@The_Carpers - I designed one myself but I have found some really cool ones that I like on tinyprints.com. And I love the name Reegan, some day she'll be really glad you didn't give her a barbie name. :p

@furyyes - I like what you said.  The meaning of this name is LAME. Lame huh? I have been racking my brain for something else that it could mean...

some names mean more than others ... especially when the first name has a lot of meaning, I dont think theres anything wrong with picking a middle name just because you like it. even if it just means "green one" or something.
